Le Monde Beryl
Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin met working at a London auction house and bonded over a mutual love of travel. A pair of classic Venetian gondolier slippers Hanbury picked up on a trip to the Venice Biennale became the design touchstone for their shoe line, Le Monde Beryl, launched in 2015. The name pays homage both to a family of gemstones “talismanic t ravelers” and West with the Night aviatrix Beryl Markham. Handmade in Florence, the jewel-tone velvet slippers and mules feature elements emblematic of cultures around the world, manifesting the wanderlust that first united the brand’s creators.
