Growing up in Vancouver, Mo Mi founder Diane Read was the beneficiary of her parents' garden remedies and her mom's Traditional Chinese Medicine cures and flower essences for all manner of ailments, but it took leaving home to bring her back to the power of plants. After studying design and architecture in New York and working as a photographer in Paris, she began formulating hair and home products with some of the same adaptogenic herbs and vegetables she grew up with, launching Mo Mi in 2018. The finished formulas for humans and pets all come in aluminum packaging and are made with ethically-sourced, cruelty-free and biodegradable ingredients like quinoa protein, kale, ginger root, shiitake, and botanical waters. Proceeds from the sale of every bottle sold go to animal rescue and philanthropic organizations including Urban Resource Institute, which allows people leaving domestic abuse situations to safely exit with their pets.
"Water is often high up on ingredient lists, but several of Mo Mi's products cleverly utilize botanical waters as their base. They are a by-product of the steam distillation process for making essential oils like sandalwood, lavender and eucalyptus. So they smell amazing and have added benefits for your hair, body and home." - Jamie Rosen, Wellbeing Editor
