Santa Maria Novella

Born from the monastic pharmacy of Dominican friars dating back to the year 1221 and named in 1612, Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella is likely the oldest continuously running apothecary in the world. Its mission was always cultivating the semplici, or “simple” herbs and medicinal plants grown on their land outside Florence, Italy, to be transformed into medicines, ointments and balms for the small monastery infirmary.

Now the Italian icon famous for its colognes, floral waters, and herbal remedies that have been sold for centuries has been reborn again, with complete collections for bath, body and home.

“The absolute ultimate apothecary brand. Its musky pomegranate scent, Melograno, is a staple that has only gotten more poignant with time.” - Jamie Rosen, Wellbeing Editor
