Rethinking the creation of a popular product, French fashion brand Veja has set out to be the most ethical sneaker brand in the world.

Veja founders Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion were inspired by their visit to clothing and food factories in South America, Asia and Australia while running a non-profit group that studied corporate social responsibility policies issued by companies around the world.

Veja's model is founded on an ethical footing at every stage of the business: from sourcing and the production cycle, right through to packaging, distribution and even the energy the company's French headquarters use (ENERCOOP (a cooperative of green electricity), rather than EDF, the French national nuclear supplier).
